Toyota Repair: no good gas milage, mechanical problem, chaing

Hello, I have a 1994 toyota pu with the 22RE 5 speed manual, and have about 150000 miles some how is wasting more gas then before do i need to change the fuel presure regulator or i need to replace the timing chaing is kind of lose tell me what do i need to do, please thank you.

The first thing you need to do is to see if the engine does not have a mechanical problem, the best way to find this out is to have the compression on each cylinder checked, this will give the mechanic a good idea of whether there is a problem with the engine's basic functions. So I recommend that you have that done before replacing anything.
