Toyota Repair: 1988 toyota camry/ tail lights, 1988 toyota camry, toyota camry

Question
I have a 88 toyota camry, the instrament panel lights, and back tail lights quit working. I found and replaced a blown fuse for the tail lights. the instrament panel lights now work but the tail lights don't. i have signal and brake lights. is this a closed cercuit or is their somthing that I'm missing. i checked the bulbs, they are not blown.

Answer
A common problem area is the small wire harness that runs along the left trunk hinge, the wires inside can seperate and short out, this is why the fuse blew, now a wire may be open and there is no current to the tailights, open the wire harness and check for any broken or seperated wires sll the way from the hinge to where they enter through the passenger compartment, while you're in there remove the tail light relay, it's attached to a brace in the trunk(left side)they can burn out, you can open the cover and see if there are any burned areas on the circuit board and replace it if necessary.
