Toyota Repair: Geo Prism/Corolla, geo prism, cv joint

Question
Hey guys, hoping someone can help with a problem I am having..

Car: 94 GEO Prism (engine and manual trans Toyota)

I am attempting to replace the clutch, that seemed like a pretty straight forward project. Unfortunately I hit a snag! The repair manual I am using says to remove the axles from the transmission housing you have to pry them loose (I am at that point, the axles are removed from disks/struts and just hanging). If that doesn't work hit the end of the pry bar with a hammer to loosen them. Well this seems to be a far greater hassle then how the manual states it. I have tried about everything and can't seem to get these loose, maybe because of 108K miles, not sure.

Anyway I am at the end of what I know and so far have failed no matter has been tried. The manual doesn't say if there are any clips or anything that would be holding these in? Have any idea of how to remove the axles from this car, the easy way?

Help!!

Answer
There are small wire clips on the ends of the axles inside the differential but they normally pop out, try using to very large prybars and apply even pressure to both sides of the inner cv joint, if you absolutely can not get them out leave them attached and remove the transmission with them in place.
