Toyota Repair: camry 96-shaking when stop, car went dead when I hit the accerlator pedal, reserve tank, stop car

Question
Hi Mr. Ritter,

I have questions about my camry 96 ('96, 96K mil, auto-tran). few days ago, when I ready to hit my accerlator pedal after the traffic light turned green, my car went dead. Good news is that I could start my car right away and drove it to dealer. Bad news is that they cannot find any code. But I did change my timing belt/water pump, coolant reserve tank(holes on top and down of it, and the coolant leaking away). However, there is a problem that hasn't been solved. My car shakes when I stop at traffic light with "D", and sometimes shake even with "P" or "N". Is this a problem on my EGR? Another problem is that I figure out somewhere around EGR/braking there is a noise coming out occasionally. Would EGR contribute this problem as well?

thanks

Answer
The most common idle problem and stalling is caused by a sticking idle speed control valve, it will not store a trouble code in the computer.
Try having it removed and cleaned and see if that helps, at the same time have the throttle body thoroughly cleaned.
