Toyota Repair: Vehicle Value, side fender, sr5

Question
Hello,

I own a 1990 4 runner sr5 was recently involved in an accident. I am not sure whether or not the insurance company will decide to fix it or write it off. I would like to know what kind settlement I could expect (book value) with this year and type of vehicle. But firstly, I was wondering how, the insurance company will decide if it is a write off. The impact was on the front, predominantly the driver side. The hood is a bit crunched along with the driver side fender, the bumper and the grill. The radiator did not rupture and I have still been able to drive the vehicle. The wheel well was originally pressed in against a steering component, creating a knocking sound when I turned, but I pulled it out a bit and it has returned to normal.

As you can probably tell, I am not an expert on vehicles, so what ever kind of answer you can give me is helpful.

Thank you,

Derek Rupprecht.

Answer
I don't normally answer these kinds of questions but the insurance company will write off(total) a vehicle if the cost of the repairs exceed the low book value of the vehicle.
In other words if the vehicle is worth $4,000 but it costs $5,000 to repair it they will total it and you will get a check from the insurance company for fair market or low blue book. Don't really kmow which it is, it depends on where you live and your insurance company's policies.
