I have a 1989 Toyota 4x4 with a 22RE motor and a 5 speed transmission with 30k miles on a rebuilt motor. The problem is it won't crank. It has plenty of fire to the plugs. When you turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump doesn't work. I hooked up a hot wire to make the pump work and had fuel to the fuel rail, but it still wouldn't crank. I checked to see if the injectors were pulsating while cranking it, but they were not.I had the injectors checked and cleaned and I bought a used computer from a junkyard, but it still wouldn't crank. Any help would be great, b/c I'm confused.

I'm a little confused also, so I'm going to ask you a simple question: When you turn the key to the start position does the engine turn over and not start up?
OR, does the engine not turn over at all?
Look at you question again because you are saying it won't crank and then you are saying that you were checking the injectors while cranking, it either cranks over or not, please be more specific or I won't be able to help you.

Answer
Thanks for the additional information.
There are a few basic things that the engine needs to run so these are what needs to be checked:
Is there spark to the spark plugs, check by removing a spark plug connector and grounding it with a screwdriver and see if there is a spark to ground while cranking the engine.
Check fuel pressure, there should be about 35psi.
Engine compression, should be at least 160psi per cylinder.
If there is no spark to the spark plugs the most common problem is the igniter module/coil assembly, the second most common is the distributor. Let me know what you find.
