Toyota Repair: toyota pickup, brake warning light, brake fluid reservoir, brake warning light

Question
my 1990 toyota 4wd drive pickups warning light brake light in dash will not go off, with e brake on its bright, and dimmer when i release the brake, i've also checked master cylinder for proper fluid level, does this light mean i need new brakes?

thank you, scott blan

Answer
This light is only controlled by the brake fluid level, if it's too low the light will come on, it can come on because of front brake wear but only because the fluid level drops as the brake pads wear down, there is no electrical connection between the pads and the warning light, you may have to replace the brake fluid reservoir cap it contains the level sensor which may be malfunctioning.
