Toyota Repair: 1994 Camry transmission!, rubber boot, valve body

Question
94 Camry,transmission went out,had replaced with
a used one,runs ok,but shifts rough,was told
these have a rubber ball in the valve body that
wears out and causes this problem. Any hint on this, and approx. how much the cost expected to
be to repair this? And is there a ball for each
gear,or just one for all? It is a v6 automatic.

                          Thanks. Philip

Answer
Before replacing any parts check that the throttle pressure cable is adjusted correctly, the cable comes up from the transmission and connects to the throttle body next to the acclerator cable, there may be a rubber boot on the end of the housing, remove it and look for a small metal sleeve on the cable, it should be 1mm from the end of the cable housing, if not, loosen the 14mm nuts and adjust them until it has the correct adjustment.
