Toyota Repair: 92 Camry Wont Start, spark plug wires, distributor shaft

Question
Thanks for the good ideas.  I replaced the coil, which was cracked, and I'm now able to crank the engine.  Unfortunately, it still isn't idling consistently.  I drove it around a little after replacing the coil and setting the timing--it seemed to work fine.  Then, after I shut it off, I tried re-cranking and it started but immediately died.  I disconnected an electrical connector under the throttle body and I was able to get it to idle normally.  I'm suspicious of some kind of air inlet controller.  Any ideas?

Question -
My car is a 1992 Camry, 4-cylinder LE.  Two days ago, I noticed the car started to idle funny at low rpm.  At higher rpm (above approximately 1200) it seemed to work fine.  Today, the same thing--but it actually died and now won't start.  I replaced the plugs, wires and fuel filter, but the car won't start.  It just continues to turn over.  This vehicle has 190,000 miles on it, but nothing significant has happened in the last 90,000 miles.
Answer -
Check for spark at the spark plug wires first, if there is no spark there may be a problem with the ignition coil, remove the distributor cap and the rotor, remove the coil cover and check for any cracks on the epoxy filled area, check for any burned spots or arcing on the underside of the coil. While the dist cap is off crank the engine and see if the distributor shaft spins, if not, the timing belt is broken. If the coil is not the problem it could be the signal generator in the distributor, it is not available as a seperate part and the entire distributor has to be replaced, one more thing that could be causing a no spark condition is the igniter.
If there is no problem with the above check fuel pressure.
If everything seems ok remove the timing cover and inspect the timing belt, check the cam timing, a slipped timing belt will still turn the camshaft and distributor but it will be out of time with the crankshaft.

Answer
Remove the throttle body and then remove the idle speed control valve from it, try cleaning the isc valve with some throttle body spray cleaner and a brush, clean the throttle body also, put it back together, while you are doing this make sure the air inlet hose from the air cleaner doesn't have any cracks in it.
