Toyota Repair: 1999 RAV 4 IGNITION SWITCH, release pin, toyota dealer

Question
THE IGNITION SWITCH WHEN YOU INSERT THE KEY WON'T TURN AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF YOU CAN HELP ME FIND OUT HOW TO CHANGE IT IF I NEED TO CHANGE IT

Answer
You can replace the ignition lock cylinder.
First get the new one from the toyota dealer so you will know what you are dealing with, the only way to remove the cylinder is to get the key into the "ACC" position then you can depress the release pin in the lock housing and it will pull out, you will need to remove the cover around the switch to find it, look at the new switch you can see where the pin is, you will also see that it can only be depressed with the key in the acc position.
If you are not able to wiggle the key into the acc position I recommend having a locksmith or the toyota dealer handle this.
