Toyota Repair: Front Brakes, brake pads, hot spots

Hi Ted,

I went to just get my regular 30,000 miles maintenance and they are telling me that my front brakes are at 10 percent. How much longer can I drive on them since I can not get them done today?


Answer
Maybe another 300 miles depending on what kind of driving you do but have them done as soon as possible, thin brake pads tend to overheat and cause the brake disks to overheat as well and cause hot spots and maybe even make metal to metal contact with the metal backing of the brake pads.
