Toyota Repair: 89 Camry Timing belt?, crankshaft pulley, pulley bolt

Question
4cil, 2.0 engine, 89 Toy Camry. I just replaced the starter but now the mechanic tells me is the timing belt. However, I think I can do this myself. Can you give me the basics on how to do this? Thanks a lot in advance.

Answer
The most difficult part of doing this yourself is removing the crankshaft pulley bolt, they are very tight and require a large breaker bar with a socket and a way to keep the engine from turning, once the nut is off it can be hard to get the pulley off and may need prying off with prybars, remove the upper motor mount and the upper timing cover, remove the lower timing cover, loosen the tensioner pulley and move it to loosen the belt, lock it in place then you can get the belt off, I can send you a couple of pages from the repair manual that show the timing marks etc., I will need an email address.
