Toyota Repair: Water Leakage, crank pulley, fan clutch

Question
2000 Tacoma, 4wd...  I identified and a dealer has confirmed that when there is water running off the windshield (e.g. when its raining) into the cowl area, water is entering the cabin in the the corner by the firewall on the passenger side.  The dealer wants $160 to seal (basically caulk) this.  Is this something I can handle?

There are TSBs on this problem:  BO02600 and 345.

One additional note, this vehicle was sold as 'certified' by a dealer about a year ago.  That buyer put only about 300 miles on the vehicle, became ill, and unfortunately passed away.  I bought it from the estate.  Do you think the selling dealer would stand behind the certified tag?  The extended warranty people have refused to help.

Thanks.

Answer
If you have the Tsb then it should tell you just how to do it, and yes you should be able to do this. Dealers are funny, most are three under one roof, sells, parts & service. How many miles are on it, 5vz ENG. Toyota has just come out with a new type water pump for this Eng. They have went to a metal ruber o-ring type instead of the FIPIG sealer. Maybe they will start a campaign. If you have 50k or over watch for coolant leaking on the crank pulley.  Waterpump is behind cover, timing belt drives this. fan clutch is on a idler.
