Toyota Repair: Mice in the fan and heater., e mail address, dead mice

We live in a rural area, and mice have been getting into my '98 Corolla heating/AC section.  They have built nests in the fan, and two days ago one died in the heater.  My husband, Pat, has removed all debris and dead mice, but would like to know how they're getting in so that he can plug the hole.

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done, we have the same problem here in southern CA., they get in through the cowling below the windshield, they can squeeze through small openings, other than taping the air intake openings shut I have no idea how to keep them out, put some traps out around the area where the car sits.
