Toyota Repair: 1987 camry with pwr light on, 1987 toyota camry, d rive

My 1987 Toyota Camry LE has a pwr light on right below the D(rive) in the steering wheel area of the dash. It is next to the overdrive on/off light. I have been putting tons of maintainence in the car as of late and need any scoop if this is something I MUST fix or not. Any feedback would be welcome. I do understand suggestions are free and also not a substitute for more information if necessary.

This is an electronic controlled transmission(ECT), there is a switch to turn the light off and on and the way the transmission shifts, all the power mode really does is delay the upshift points of the transmission, you can turn this light off by pushing the small button marked ECT "power/normal" it should be located on the console next to the shifter or just below the instrument panel. If the light can not be turned off by using the switch let me know.
