Toyota Repair: noise from clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, return spring

Question
My 88 supra makes a popping noise almost everytime I press down on the clutch. The pop can be heard when the pedal is pressed down completely and also when letting the pedal up. The clutch master cylinder level was a little lower than usual. There was also a small trail of oil running inside the car close to the clutch pedal. Any advice would be great.

Answer
The trail of oil means that the master cylinder is starting to leak but that's not what is causing the popping noise, there is a possibility that the pedal bracket is cracked or that the return spring is moving to much because the contact between the spring and the pedal is worn.
