Toyota Repair: ENGINE LIGHT, toytoa, toyota dealer

I HAVE A TOYTOA SOLARA - 2000 - @ 39,000 MILES ON IT -  ENGINE COMES ON - WHEN I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THEN COMES BACK ON ... ANY IDEAS?

There are about 30 different causes that can turn on a check engine light that's why the manufacturers developed on board diagnostic systems, although most cases are emission control related they can also cause driveability problems.
My advice is to take it to a Toyota dealer and have them hook the diagnostic scanttol to the computer and it will read the trouble codes present in the system, some emission control problems are covered up to 5yrs/60,000 miles, depending on what it is, so let them check it and you can get back to me with the trouble codes if you need more help.
