Toyota Repair: 1990 Corolla SR5, air intake hose, pin holes

Question
I just bought a 1990 Corolla SR5, it was a one owner car and maintained. I knew the gas tank had a leak and it was repaired, there was an area of pin holes on top and one part of a seam. One of the fuel lines had to be replaced as well. This is the 4A-FE engine. Intermittently the engine will be hard to start. The motor will almost start by having some cylinders firing enough to keep the motor turning over then it will get it self straighten out and will run normal. The other thing I have noticed is that intermittently the engine will not respond to a quick throttle depression and will stumble. I have installed new gas line filter and air filter. Any suggestions?

Answer
Just to make sure, have the fuel pressure tested so you can rule out the fuel pump as the problem, it may be an electrical issue rather than fuel related so be sure the basics like spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor are ok,also check the air intake hose from the air filter to the throttle body for leaks.
