Toyota Repair: Starting Engine, gas filter, toyota dealer

Question
Dear Ted:
I have a 2000 Avalon and when I am starting my engine it is not starting completely.  Sometimes the only way it starts is when I press on the gas.  It seems like there isn't enough gas getting to the engine.  I have replaced the gas filter and put gas cleaner into the tank.  Can you please help me?  What's the next step!

Thanks!
Linda

Answer
A very common problem, it is the idle speed control valve,I recommend that you have the throttle body removed and cleaned at the same time have them remove the ISC valve and clean it also, if done correctly this will fix the problem, I also suggest that you let a Toyota dealer do this.
