Toyota Repair: 96 Toyota Corolla 1.8 7afe Camshaft timing marks???, cam gear noise, toyota corolla

Question
I have recently rep[lace the head gasket on my 96 Corolla, Easy enough. Until I had to put the camshafts back on. The marks in the Haynes and the Chilton aren't very clear. The book says to put the lobes on 1 and three on the exhaust side, okay. Then on the intake side it hardly has anything as far as pics and references. So I'm stuck. Also if someone can shead some light on the 16 valve, and how that works. I imagine that intake and exhaust lobes push the 4 valves down all at the same time, on each cylinder, but I'm not sure.

Answer
The timing marks are on the backside of the gears, there are the timing marks and there are the assembly marks. the timing marks are the two large dimples, they have to be lined up with the crankshaft at TDC, the assembly marks are used for ease of installation, I hope you put in the 10mm bolt in the spring loaded cam to keep it preloaded, look at the gears one them is a two piece gear which is spring loaded this is to keep the cam gear noise at a minimum, the assembly marks are there so that when the service bolt is in the gear it can be rotated, the assembly marks are the two small dots and one single small dot, the small dot has to be lined up between the two dots, after the cams are installed this way the service bolt can be removed and the cams rotated until the two large dots line up, the cams are now both at TDC.
