How to replace expantion valve on 1996 Rav4.
procedure for pulling vaccum on system.


Answer
The evaporator has to be removed, the expansion valve is attached to it, in order to remove it most of the right side of the dash has to be removed along with the heater blower housing, this is a difficult job.
Before doing anything the freon has to be removed from the system this requires a recovery machine then the evaporator can be disconnected and removed.
To get the system into a vacuum condition a vacuum pump has to be used which is part of the recovery machine.
