Toyota Repair: Over-heat, model toyota, blown headgasket

Question
Hi Mr Ritter,

My problem is that my car heats up very easily. After a 20 minute drive, I find that the heat guage is usually above 3/4 mark. If I keep driving it will go red. But when I check under the hood - there is enough water.

What could be the problem? Will using a coolant instead of water help?

Answer
No, that won't help.
There are many causes for an overheating condition, the most common are a bad thermostat, a partially clogged radiator, inoperative cooling fans or a blown headgasket, tell me exactly what year and model toyota you have and it's mileage and I can be more specific and offer some more possibilities and maybe a solution.
Just one question, does it overheat at idle also or only when driving?
