Toyota Repair: white exhaust smoke, oil filler cap, toyota camry

Question
I have a 2000 Toyota Camry with 84,000 miles, when I start the car a large cloud of white smoke is presented from the exhaust. I recently purchased the car used so I don't have any service history.

Answer
This condition may mean bad news, white smoke,ie:steam, is normally caused by an internal combustion leak, one of the most common causes is a leaking headgasket.
I recommend that you have a Toyota dealer do a internal combustion leak test to see if this is the case.
You can do sort of a quick check yourself, remove the oil filler cap and see if there are any milky deposits in the cap, if so, you don't need to go any further, the headgasket is blown, if not, have it tested anyway just to make sure.
