Toyota Repair: 92 corrola timing belt replacement, timing belt replacement, cement truck

Question
My 92 4 cyl corolla has 132000 miles on it and has never had the timing belt replaced.  My friend says the engine will self destruct if the belt fails.  I heard somewhere that the 92 corrolla 4 cyl was a non-inteference engine and it will just stop running when the belt fails.  Is there any danger of just running till the belt fails?

Answer
The only danger is that the belt may fail at a bad time, like crossing an intersection and the car quits and you get hit by a cement truck and die, sorry sometimes I have to make a small joke just to break the monotony, your'e right, your friend is wrong.
