Toyota Repair: 97 Tacoma A/C Quit working, haynes manual, compressor clutch

Question
1997 Tacoma 4x4, 3.4 V-6, Manual shift, 104k miles.
The A/C quit cooling, there are no obvious cooling system leaks, all fuses appear to be good.
I have a Haynes manual for the truck and have used it to attempt to troubleshoot. A/C switch on dash checks OK as per the manual and the blower functions as normal, but it appears that the A/C clutch doesn't engage when the switch is on. It doesn't make any attempt to engage, using a test light to try and determine if power is going to the A/C compressor/clutch doesn't show any power to the unit. There is only one wire (black with yellow stripe) that leads to the unit and I cannot confirm power to it when the dash switch is on.
Can you provide any assistance and point me in the direction of what else to check?
Thanks in Advance!

Answer
The most common cause for the compressor not engaging is that there is a loss of freon pressure in the system, usually because there is a leak, there will be no voltage to the a/c clutch because there is a pressure switch that won't activate until the line pressures are correct.
I recommend that you have an a/c repair shop or the toyota dealer check the system for a leak.
If you want to try to fix it temporarily you can get a recharging kit at most autoparts stores, the compressor should start up as soon as you add the can of freon, just follow the instructions.
