Toyota Repair: Tacoma A/C Problems, haynes manual, compressor clutch

Question
1997 Tacoma 4x4, 3.4 V-6, Manual shift, 104k miles.
The A/C quit cooling, there are no obvious cooling system leaks, all fuses appear to be good.
I have a Haynes manual for the truck and have used it to attempt to troubleshoot. A/C switch on dash checks OK as per the manual and the blower functions as normal, but it appears that the A/C clutch doesn't engage when the switch is on. It doesn't make any attempt to engage, using a test light to try and determine if power is going to the A/C compressor/clutch doesn't show any power to the unit. There is only one wire (black with yellow stripe) that leads to the unit and I cannot confirm power to it when the dash switch is on.
Can you provide any assistance and point me in the direction of what else to check?
Thanks in Advance!

Answer
I WOULD TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.YOU HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERNET THING THAT CAUSE THAT. PLUS YOU WOULD NEED A GAUGE SET AND A WAY TO FILL THE FREON TO VERIFY A PROBLEM. THE FIRST STEP IS TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A LEAK. IN ORDER TO DO THAT YOU NEED TO RECOVER THE FREON TO SEE IF IT THE PROPER AMOUNT. IF IT IS LESS THEN YOU HAVE LEAK. IF IT IS TOO MUCH THEN IT WILL SHUT THE COMPRESSOR OFF AS WOULD TOO LITTLE FREON. IT CAN GET EXPENSIVE AND TIME CONSUMING IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS.
