Toyota Repair: 2000 Toyota Camry Struts, michelin x one, alignment specs

Question
Hello Ted,
I have Michelin X One tires installed near 50K miles, and at 70K mile rotation they began to make a humming sound like mud grip tires. The tire dealer showed me that edges of the tire treads were wearing at diagonal angles, and recomended waiting longer before rotating again. It is now 85K miles and the humming is still quite pronounced. That tire dealer had also done a brake job @ 65K miles. I am somewhat familiar with bad shocks and tire hopping, but I figured Toyota struts should last longer than this. I also thought that I would feel suspension mushiness, bounciness before I damaged my once nice and smooth X One's, and that tire chopping would show up every couple of inches around the tire and not on every single edge tread. I became suspicious when the tire technician told me that I should change the expensive struts every 25K miles. Please advise, and if I need struts...are  there aftermarket struts (Monroe...etc) that might give a better ride than OEM struts?

Answer
This is a front end alignment problem, have you had the alignment checked?
Toyota struts will last far longer than 25,000 miles, do not take the advise of that tire guy, here is what I recommend you do and maybe you can save those expensive tires.
Have all the tires rebalanced on a good computer balancer
Do a complete 4 wheel alignment( I recommend the toyota dealer) and ask for a printout of the before and after alignment specs
It is also possible that the struts are worn but replace them only if there are signs of leakage or they feel soft.
