Paul,
I'm hoping you can help me with a very frustrating problem.  Just bought a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE and it has been in the shop 7 times the past 4 weeks for the same problem.  There is a loud thumping noise coming from the rear suspension when ever I go over any bumps in the road and it seems to be coming mostly from the rear passenger side wheel.  So far they have changed the strut and strut mount of that wheel but this has not improved the problem at all.  Do you think this could be a problem that occurred during the manufacturing process and simply can't ever be fixed?  The last time the car was in the shop, they took the whole rear end apart trying to fix the problem, and now it's worse than ever with even more thumping.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

what state do u live in?
it sounds like the strut top is bad but like you said they replaced that.
check the spare tire in the trunk to see if it's mounted down properly!!!!

I live in Maine. The trunk was completely cleaned out, spare, jacks, rugs, eetc. The dealer says they rechecked all connections in suspension and that the noise is normal. When the strut mount and strut ws changed the noise went away for one day but came back.-------------------------

Answer
is the dealer saying that the noise is normal at this point?
or are you not happy with what you are hearing?

let me say this....get the service manager or diretor to go for a ride in another 2004 camry xle with comprable mileage and see if the noise is there. if it is not then your vehicle still has a problem. now you have ground to stand on when they say your car is normal...please let me know how you make out. paul p.
