Toyota Repair: Power Windows, door hinge, dash area

Question
I had the door panel off, disconnected the power window/lock assembly from the wiring harness.. couldn't see anything obvious. Could it be the harness between the door and the chassis (i.e. at the door hinge point somewhere?)

If so, how difficult is that to come apart? How does it come apart?

Thanks alot!

Hi

My 1991 Camry has intermittent power window operation. It appears the breakdown is related to the driver's door being open.. in fact at one point, it seemed as if when the door was opened any further than about 8 inches, the windows wouldn't work. It's not just the windows, same thing with the power locks.

I'm thinking it's obviously related to some kind of relay or something that requires the door to be closed to operate these power components. I've had the panel off the door, checked all the wiring for the power switches - all appears to be OK.

Is there any easy way to further diagnose the problem or at least narrow it down further. BTW, I can hear an audible 'click' at times after closing the drivers door. It sounds to be coming from the passengers dash area. Does this mean anything?

Thanks in advance.

Answer -
it sounds like the master switch in the drivers door. pop the switch out of the door, carefully with a small flat tipped screwdriver and check to see if any wires or anything else is broken.

Answer
it sounds like an intermittant master switch. take a test light to it wire by wire and move it around, try moving the wires around in the door jamb while testing. the bad wire will show it self with the test light. but most likely it the switch itself.
