Toyota Repair: auto transmission, torque converter, dipstick

Question
hi ted, how are you?
i have a 1990 cammery.  i installed auto transaxle 5 times and still can't get it to go into any gear.  the dipstick reads over fill by 3 to 4 inches up the dipstick.  the tourque converter isn't filling up i asume. i know i got the tourque converter all the way on and i can hear the pump working inside.  my question: does leaving all the electronics going to the transaxle disconnected, would that have anything to do with the trans to shift?
thankyou for your time and God bless you, jon.

Answer
The computer only tells the transmission when to up or downshift, when you manually select a gear, such as "D" the car should move, not sure what is going on, you may have damaged the front oil pump if the torque converter was not engaged all the way in when the transmission was bolted to the engine.
