Toyota Repair: Starts & then stalls, air intake hose, air flow meter

Question
92 Toyota Cressida.  When I turn on the ignition, it fires up immediately and then dies.

Sympton is like in the old carb days when a fuel pump did not work or a fuel filter was clogged and you sprayed ether into the carb - it fires up and then dies.

Car was running fine before.  Sporadically the check engine light came on.  Car has about 120k miles.

Any suggestions?  Thanks

Answer
I have a couple of suggestions for you to consider, it sounds like there is an air leak on the intake system between the air flow meter(air cleaner) and the throttle body or the air flow meter itself is the problem, first check to see if there are any cracks in the large air intake hose.
Check for any other vacuum leaks, hoses etc.
Let me know if this was the problem or you need more help.
