I have a 1998 Corolla... currently at 137,000
Ever since I got it (2 years ago) at 57,000 it seems to burn a lot of oil-- the tank of it in approximately 2500 miles.   There are no visible oil leaks in the engine and no evidence of oil leaks below the car.

Additionally, no indication of internal oil leaks such as smoke and the like.  Any advise.

Many Thanks

If you are using about 1 quart per 1000 miles it is considered within normal usage limits.

On the average I'm burning about 3x that on each oil change

Many Thanks

Answer
That amount is not normal and you need to have the engine checked for a possible piston ring problem, I understand that you said there is no smoke but it only stands to reason that the oil is going someplace, that is a fact, you should take it to the toyota dealer and have it checked as to where the oil is going, I must admit to you that I find this much oil usage very unusual on this model corolla at this mileage.
