I have a 1996 Toyota Tocoma, 4WD, 6 cyl, 5 speed trans and 150K mile on it. My problem is that it shimmy and shakes at various speeds between 40mph and 60mph. Over 60mph it dammpens out. This probelem has been around for about the last 20K to 30K miles and is just getting worse.I had steel wheel and replaced them with alloy rims to eliminate the bent wheel concern. I also have the tires / wheel balanced, still no help. I have oversized tires 32x11.5-15 radials with about normal wear on them. I also changed the brake rotors recently, it did not seem to help. My question is what is next to change out? The front struts? Wheel bearings? Upper / lower ball joints? Any and all suggestions welcomed.

Do you feel this condition in the steering wheel or is the whole truck shaking, do you feel it in the seat?

Answer
Vibrations and shimmies are mostly related to an out of balance condition of either the wheels or the driveline, you've had the wheels replaced and the tires balanced so I don't think this is where the problem can be,replacing ball joints, struts or bearings won't help,so don't waste money there, I suggest you have the driveshafts checked, it may have worn u-joints or is out of balance.
