Toyota Repair: 96 Camry V6LE does not start, metric wrenches, starter problem

Question
When I turned key to start there was a clicking sound (sounds like electric current going into the starter) but the starter does not turn at all. I checked battery by turning headlights on. I believe battery is good and cables to starter are ok.

A history about the starter: 18 months ago I had starter problem - the starter did not stop after enging started. The repair shop put a rebuilt starter on my car and now it is not starting.

Questions:

1. Do you think I need to replace the starter? Or it could be other problems?
2. I am thinking of removing and installing starter by myself this time. I have never done this before. How difficult it is? Does it require any special tools? Anything that I should pay special attention to while doing it?

Please advise.

thanks

Answer
Hello Michael, welcome to my expert page.
It sounds like the starter has gone bad again, you may want to consider getting one from the toyota dealer this time, replacing it is not too hard, but it takes some tools like a ratchet and extension and a 14mm socket and some metric wrenches. Disconnect the battery before doing anything.
