Toyota Repair: toyota celica 1981 GT carburetor, manifold gaskets, toyota celica

Question
my questions is what type of gasket does my toyota celica 1981 needs that goes from the carburetor to the engine? or if i can get all the gaskets in a full set, that r needed to properly install a carburetor? i just installed a remanufactured carburetor on this toyota, and the car shakes a little, and the idle i believe is too low.the line is always between the 0 and the 1. when the car stops on a light or i am running in slow that is when it start to shake, when i am on the highway for example or i am on highspeed it runs fine. can u tell me what can it be?

Answer
Hello Maria, welcome to my expert page.
The toyota dealer should be able to show you a picture what the baseplate of the intake to carburetor looks like, yes the leak may be there, but these engines had lots of leaking intake manifold gaskets especially towards the rear where the EGR valve is located, with the engine at idle spray some carburetor cleaner at the rear of the manifold where it contacts the cylinder head, if the engine races up and starts running smooth, the gasket is leaking. If this doesn't solve the problem let me know.
