Toyota Repair: timing belt and seal kit replacement, 1985 toyota cressida, crankshaft pulley

Question
could you pls tell me if replaceing the timing belt and seal kit on a 1985 toyota cressida can be done at home if I have the right info? also I have a 1989 cressida with oil light flickering on and off at idle speeds. Oil topped up still flashing at idle.

Answer
Hello Bruce , welcome to my expert page.
Yes, but you also need to right tools, one of the most difficult parts of this repair is to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, they can be extremely tight, what we use is a chain wrench to grab the pulley and a 3ft long breaker bar and I have seen a few of those break because the bolt was that tight.
The oil light flickering may be just a bad oil pressure sending unit, try replacing it to see if it helps.
