Toyota Repair: 85 Toyota Van LE with Hot Soak problem!?, fuel pressure regulator, ted ritter

Question
Hello Ted Ritter:

I'm the original owner of a well-maintained 1985 Toyota Van LE that has 98,000 miles.

I've been experiencing the following problem for some time and would like to correct it:

After the van reaches normal engine temperature,
and is parked for 15+ minutes, restarting causes extremely hard starting and a rough idle (similar to vapor lock in other vehicles that I have owned). This happens all of the time, whether it's 30 or 85 degrees outside. Upon finally starting the engine will smooth out after about a minute and will continue running until I park it again for 15+ minutes.

I verified that the distributor timing and the air gap are to factory specifications.

Please note that when the vehicle is cold (initial start) that there is no problem in starting.

I understand that there is a TSB #E020 dated 5-27-8 for 86-87-88 vans that are exhibiting the same problem. Could its' solution be beneficial for my situation?

What is your professional experience with this problem?

Many thanks for making yourself available and for any help that you can provide.

Answer
Hello again, today I had a chance to check for more bulletins I had to go to the year 1988 to locate it.
I'm not sure if it applies to your van (1985)unless it is a late 85(check the production date on the sticker)anything past 8/85 is an '86, anyway it involves replacing the fuel pressure regulator and a vacuum switching valve, the procedure is different if there is a/c or not.
This is an 8 page document and I can not email this many pages, if you would like I can send it through the mail.
