Toyota Repair: timing on an 86 toyota 4runner, crankshaft pulley, good luck jack

Question
I want to check the ignition timing on my 86 4runner, but the hood has been replaced, and there's no VECI sticker to be found that can tell me the setting of the timing mark. Do you know where the mark on the pulley should be, or do you know how i can find out? I'm trying to pass a Nevada smog test. Thanks.

Answer
There should be a mark on the crankshaft pulley and marks on the front timing cover.
You need to bypass the computer by jumping the TE1 and E1 terminals at the diagnostic connector. If you fail to jump these connections you will not time the engine correctly.
8 deg will be a good place to set the timing.
Good luck
