Toyota Repair: Door handle/latch, toyota corolla, connecting link

Question
I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla. The door handle on the driver's side will not open the door. It feels like it's not attached to the latch. Did something break and do you know how to fix this? I would like to fix it myself if it's not too hard. Thanks for any advice, William

Answer
The connecting link rod from the door lock to the handle has come off, this is probably due to a plastic clip that broke on the inside of the handle.
The door panel has to be removed, roll the window up to get access to the lock mechanism and you should see where the rod came off, by the way it is not exactly easy to get this clip back on and I would let a repair shop do this unless you have some tools and feel up to doing it yourself.
