Toyota Repair: 88 camry station wagon electrical system broken?, fuse box, charge battery

Question
ever since i had to replace my starter(in my 1988 camry station wagon) i've been having problems. the first starter drained my battery when it was off, so the mechanic ran the connector wire to a relay so it wouldnt drain. Second starter installed, and it seemed to be working but sometimes it wouldnt start without a jump. Then i had a new alternator installed, didnt change anything. Oddly enough i got it to start without jumping it one time after it had no starting at all. Then as i was driving on the high way the 'charge battery' light was coming on. Next thing i know, the windshield wipers went beserk and they broke off. I smelled a burnt smell after that, and my car could not roll up windows, the clock went off and the car was stuck in 1 gear ( a high gear) I went into the hood and checked it out: there were 3 fuses connected to the positive terminal. the one in the middle (says 80 amp on the fuse box) was a 60 amp, it looked burned out. however i could not remove that. there were two other fuses next to that one, which came out easily. do u think its this fuse? or is it something else? if its this fuse, how do i take it off cuz i cant seem to do it easily... thanks

Answer
The fuse you are talking about is bolted in, to get to it you have to remove the fuse box and remove the lower cover, the problem is that there was something that caused these fuses to go, there had to be a massive current draw to take out the 60A fuse, something like a direct short to ground, that's what you need to have the system checked for, possibly the alternator, try try replacing the fuse with the alternator disconnected, these fuses are about $10 each so it would be wise to find the cause, I suggest you let a toyota dealer check it.
