Toyota Repair: 97 Avalon Headlights wont go off automatically, good luck jack, toyota avalon

Question
I have a 97 Toyota Avalon.  It has never been in an accident.  Just recently the dome & door lights stopped coming on when I open the door and the headlights no longer shutoff automatically when I turn off the car,
get out and lock it.  I checked the fuse and it was
fine.  The other things on the same fuse still work.  I replaced the fuse just to be sure.
I took it to a Toyota repair shop and they said the
door switch needed replacement and ordered the part
to fix the problem with the dome and door lights.
They told me they didn't see a problem with the
headlights but the headlights still don't go off
automatically like they use too.  What else
can I ask them to check that might be causing
this problem?

Answer
Your headlights should go of when the Ignition key is in the ACC or OFF position and you open the driver's door.
If they are staying on then the system is not seeing the door open.
The door switch that turns on the dome light on is also the same switch that turns off the head lights when the driver's door is opened and the key off. I will say that it goes through the integration relay to finish the signal for the light's turning off. This can be part of the problem but not normally.
They may  need to look futher.
Good luck
