my left side half shaft is stuck on and i was told to just pry on it and so i did and i broke the croe bar and then i got help from a toyota dealer and they told me to just pry on it then it didnt work i went to a shop here and they said i would use a bigger pry bar then that started bending  then i was told to beat on the grooves with a hammer and screwdriver and that still didnt work do you have any other ideas   it has like 6 bolts going around it but i cant get to like 3 of the bolts with anything because the lack of room do i have to take them bolts out but it isnt a flanged half shaft because the other side came out with ease and i didnt have to take bolts of the transmission on the right side    do you have any ideas    thank you

Answer
Thanks for the visit.

If you do have a GTS then the left axle is just pushed into the trans case.  On a non GTS it is really a half shaft that bolts to the axle portion that comes from the trans case.
In your case the small retaining ring that helps hold it in place probably has come out of it's position. Usually it will recess in the groove of the axle for removal and normal prying will get it out. When the ring is now outside the axle you are trying to pull out not only the axle shaft but this steel ring that is wedged in the side gear of the differental.  We have a tool that grabs  the hub of the cv joint and gives us more prying power but at home you are at a disadvantage in that you don't have that and you are probably not standing under the vehicle.
I don't have any easy ways to get it out. Even we have trouble but we do have more resources. You  may wind up taking it to the dealer (towed I'm sure by now).
Good luck
Jack
