Tractor Repair: 1950s Ford Jubilee, milky appearance, drain plugs

Question
I have a 1950's Ford Jubilee and when the weather goes below freezing the back blade will not go up and down. I live in Michigan so the weather gets quit cold.

Answer
There could be moisture in the hydraulic oil that freezes.  Check if the oil looks milky and change it if necessary.  Even if it looks OK, loosen the drain plugs on the transmission and see if any water comes out.  Water will settle to the very bottom unless it gets blended with the oil which gives it the milky appearance.
