Tractor Repair: 1941 Ford 9N Tractor, ford 9n tractor, cold weather

Question
Hi I just purchased a 1941 Ford 9N Tractor and would like to
know what type of oil would you suggest to use in the transmission, engine, & rear end. Also would you know where are the filters located. Please get back to me. Thank you.

Answer
I can't recommend a certain type, viscosity, or brand of engine oil because of many factors that determine what should be used such as what climate you are in and what the tractor will be used for.  The transmission and rear end and hydraulics are all the same oil and there is a dipstick on the right side of the transmission behind your right foot as you sit on the machine.  They originally used 80W90 gear oil, but many people have switched to hydraulic oil because gear oil is too thick in cold weather.  The only filter on the tractor is on the left side of the engine.  I would recommend getting an operator's manual to get you more familiar with the tractor.
