Tractor Repair: cih mxu 125 diff lock light, electronic control module, mechanical knowledge

Question
I got a Mxu 125 and intermittently the diff lock light on the dash will
come on for a few secconds and then go out. This only happens when
the tractor is warm, if you let it cool down it will stop. When it acts up
the worst it is on almost half of the time. The light in the switch is never
on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a automotive mechanic
and have worked on tractors so I have some mechanical knowledge.   It
is a 05 or 06 with 1000 hours it is on a stalk chopper so the tractor is
working pretty hard with the pto on I have not tried it doing anything
else with it. Thank you for your time.

Answer
I am assuming it does this with the diff lock turned off because you said the light in the switch is not on.  On a MXU, everything is operated by an electronic control module which is a small computer.  When you turn the switch on, the module sends power to the diff lock relay which sends power to the diff lock solenoid, which turns on the oil pressure to the diff lock.  The module also controls the diff lock operation with the end of row function, the hitch height, the brake pedals, and possibly the steering angle in the automatic diff lock mode.  If the diff lock functions normally otherwise except for this light coming on, it could be some damaged wires somewhere, or a faulty diff lock pressure switch.  If the diff lock does not work correctly when turned on, it could be any of the things mentioned above.
