Tractor Repair: Case MX110 error code 5, negative battery cable, mate matt

Question
G'day mate, Matt here from Australia. I have an error code No 5 coming up on my MX110 hitch control display. My local dealer suggests it is the draft pins on the lower arms, I am a bit sceptical as there seems to be no ill effects on the tractors operations. The operator had said it had been flashing for a few weeks and hasn't noticed any unwanted movement in the implements while working it. He had assume the code was relating to the blown light in the hitch button but I am pretty sure that was code 4....Just wanting some advice before I pull it out of the field and knock the pins out. Also if it just is a glitch how would I reset the codes. I have been having battery problems with a loose terminal on it not sure if this is related to the problem.

Cheers
matt

Answer
The code 5 indicates a failed draft sensing pin, however with 2 pins in the system, you may not ever notice any difference in hitch operation.  The draft response may not be quite as sensitive under certain conditions with it only receiving a signal from one pin, but depending on what you are using the tractor for, I doubt that you will notice much difference.  Pulling a hitch mounted tillage implement is one type of operation where you might notice it, but otherwise it's usually not a problem.  Any active fault code for the hitch can only be reset by fixing the problem which will make the 5 disappear, and if there are no other problems, the 0 will show, meaning there are no active codes and the hitch system is OK.  The 5 code will still be stored in memory, but will no longer be displayed once the problem is fixed.  You are correct about code 4, it indicates a burned out hitch enable light.  Loose battery terminals can cause some electronic problems, especially if it involves the clean ground wires attached to the negative battery cable clamp, but would not cause this particular hitch code.
