can not get the clutch to engage... any ideas??

Hello,

  Make sure the pedal has at least an inch of free travel.  Adjust as needed.  If it still doesn't work, there is something else wrong that will probably require splitting the tractor to repair.  See if you can grind gears without pushing in the clutch.  If not, then the transmission is not turning due to a broken input shaft, stripped splines, etc.
