Tractor Repair: Timing, injector pump, piston

QUESTION: I cant figure out the timing on my 1984 case 585 tractor for  the injector pump could u help me out

ANSWER: no 1 piston should be put to tdc and the enjector pump locked before removal so it can not spin once removed.when refitting once everythig is tight unlock the pump

QUESTION: Ok I had some else try to fix now it acts like it's out of time. Is there any way to tell and how to fix it.

i dont have any info on timing this engine if it wasnt locked when it was removed.if you cant get any info you could put a mark on the shaft and gear and then move the gear on the shaft slightly and run the engine keep playing with the position of the gear on the shaft use very small movements untill the engine is sounding good you will have to tighten the nut each time you run the engine.its trial and error but it works maybie try another expert first as they might have the information you need
