Tractor Repair: case 2390 shifting problem, lever moves, forward gear

My 1980 Case 2390 suddenly became stuck in reverse. I can't shift into a forward gear. The shifter lever moves into a forward gear position but the tractor is still in reverse. What is the problem?

Check your linkage make sure it isn't broken at the valve. if the linkage is ok then you might have a problem inside the shift valve or Reverse pack is warped so bad that it won't disengage. Big money and a dealer fix. Only real way to tell is a pressure gauge in the reverse port and see if you have pressure in fwd or the pack is just bad.
