Tractor Repair: no fuel to the injectors, ford 3000, automotive store

Question
I have a 1969 ford 3000,I had recently changed the fuel filter in the process.I lost the small washer that goes on the top of the cover so I replaced it with another one that made it leak well 2 hours later I decided to fix that part and went to the automotive store and got the right washer. When I took the screw loose that holds the filter to the cover and replace the washer this thing refuses to crank now. I bleed the lines from the filter to the injector pump and open the injectors and hand pumped the fuel pump about 25 or more times and turn it over for a minute the starter was getting hot. What do I need to do now.

Answer
Hello,

First make sure you have good fuel flow from the tank, then bleed the filter at the bleed screw on top of the filter until there are no more bubbles, then bleed the line between the filter and injection pump, making sure you have a good flow of fuel and not just a little dribble.  If yours has an inline injection pump and not a rotary pump, there may be bleed screws on the pump itself.  Once everything is bled as far as the pump, then loosen all of the injection lines at the injectors (not the small return lines) and turn the engine over at full throttle until fuel squirts out at the injector fittings.  Tighten the fittings and it should start right up.  If you still can't get fuel at the injectors and if it is an inline pump, the fuel rack inside the pump may be stuck.
